Hair like Snape’s?

I’ve been using this product for over a year now and it has become one of my trusted shampoos.

My hair gets greasy quickly, which is a no-brainer if you live here in the Philippines.  Thanks to the Pearl Protein + Citrus (for brilliant shine and purification) formula of this shampoo, I can get away by not washing my hair for two (sometimes, three) days!  No one can even tell the difference! 😛

Tip: It’s better to wash your hair at night than in the morning, which I’ve been doing for over five years now.

For best results, use with the complete L’oreal Paris Elsève Nutri-Gloss Light set, which includes the shampoo, treatment, conditioner, and leave-on.

Movie No. 2: THE OTHERS (2001)

Directed by Alejandro Amenábar
Starring Nicole Kidman as Grace Stewart
  Alakina Mann as Anne Stewart
  James Bentley as Nicholas Stewart
  Fionnula Flanagan as Bertha Mills
  Eric Sykes as Edmund Tuttle
  Elaine Cassidy as Lydia

The Others is one of the most unique haunted house horror movies you might ever watch.  It’s not rich in scary scenes, but it will definitely scare you, that’s for sure.

The film is set after World War II.  Grace’s children, Anne and Nicholas, have this very rare disease that makes them very sensitive to sunlight; this is why all of the windows of their whole house have very huge drapes that are always kept closed.  Soon, Grace and the children were joined by a very mysterious lot– Mrs. Mills, Mr. Tuttle, and Lydia–who happened to be the previous servants of the house.  Explaining the situation of the kids to them, Grace keeps repeating the “only one rule” in the house, which is “No door should be open without the previous one being closed.”  Religion is also a big deal to the family.

If you’re wondering what the house looks like…

…without the sheep, of course.  It is the perfect setting for a haunted house movie, in my opinion.  While watching the movie, you could actually feel the chilling and eeriness sense of the surrounding, whether the scene is shot on the inside or the outside of house.  The ambience is very dramatic and it totally works.

Anne seems to have a “sixth sense,” being able to see and communicate with a “ghost” named Victor.  She claims to her younger brother and mother that their house is haunted, which makes the former scared and the latter angry.  There is this one shocking scene, where Grace throws a histerical fit and hurts Anne while she claims that she’s not her daughter.  Things even got more complicated when Charles, Grace’s husband who she thought has died in the war, suddenly comes back… and suddenly leaves again.  The climax of the movies shows Grace having an almost-encounter with the “ghosts” (apparently, there were four, according to Anne).  Towards the end, mysteries are solved, but the truth turns upside-down.

Here are some dialogues and quotes from the movie:

  • Mrs. Mills: Sometimes the world of the living gets mixed up with the world of the dead.
  • Grace: This house is ours… This house is ours…
  • Mrs. Mills: Death of a loved one can lead people to do the strangest things.
  • Mrs. Mills: Sooner or later, they will find you.

The “scare” factor may be low, yes, but after watching this, it doesn’t really matter because it’s all about the essence of the story.

Scream-o-meter: 5.5/10
